1.Brief Introduction

Tableware glass refers to a category of dining and serving vessels manufactured from glass materials, including goblets, plates, drinking glasses, bowls, mugs, and other household items. The production of glass tableware involves various material compositions such as soda-lime glass, lead crystal, borosilicate glass, and opal glass. One notable characteristic of tableware glass is its transparency, which provides a clear view of the contents during use, thereby enhancing the dining experience. Additionally, glass tableware exhibits good thermal resistance, enabling it to accommodate both hot and cold food items. It is also effortless to clean and, most importantly, reusable, which contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing single-use waste.

Tableware glass encompasses a diverse array of products, including tumblers, cups, bowls, plates, stemware, and decorative furnishing glass. These items serve multiple functions, ranging from everyday food service and dining to interior decoration and gift applications.

5. Physicochemical changes in each glass melting stage

 

1.  Silicate forming


During this initial stage, the batch components undergo a solid-phase physicochemical reaction as heating progresses. Gaseous by-products are released from the batch, ultimately resulting in the formation of an opaque sinter composed of silicates and silica (SiO2).

 

2. Glass liquid forming


In this stage, the sinter gradually melts, and the silicates along with SiO2 transform into a flint glass melt containing numerous bubbles. However, the chemical composition and physical properties of the melt remain uneven at this point.

 

3. Fining


The glass melt is subjected to continuous heating, which reduces its viscosity and promotes the release of gaseous impurities. This process effectively eliminates visible bubbles from the molten glass pool.


4. Homogenization


The glass melt is maintained at an elevated temperature for an extended duration, allowing diffusion to eliminate striae and achieve uniform composition throughout the melt. The homogenization temperature is generally lower than that used during the fining stage.

  • Press machine

The press machine is a specialised piece of industrial equipment employed in the glass manufacturing sector for forming glassware through pressing. It is an essential component of the glass forming section within the overall production process.

The Glassware Press Forming Machine, also referred to as a glass press or glassware former, is a core industrial apparatus primarily utilised in the glass industry for press-forming molten glass into a variety of ware products, including containers, industrial supplies, and decorative art items, through hydraulic or pneumatic pressure application. It adopts customised configurations, typically featuring 8 to 24 work stations and punch head options such as single, double, or triple setups, to achieve precise moulding while integrating mechanical, electrical, mould, and automation control technologies for improved efficiency and flexibility.

  • Transfer ware

Transfer ware is engineered to convey glass products from the I.S. machine or press machine to the cross conveyor positioned upstream of the annealing lehr in a rapid and stable manner. This equipment is particularly suitable for high-speed glass production lines.

  • Cross Conveyor

Cross conveyor is installed in front of annealing lehr for cross conveying the glass product and works with stacker to push them into annealing lehr. 

  • Stacker

The stacker is responsible for pushing glass products from the cross conveyor into the annealing lehr. Pushing speed is regulated via an inverter drive, while the number of pushing actions is monitored and controlled by digital counters.

  • Annealing lehr

Annealing lehr can be continuous annealing of tableware, bottles, cans, and other glass products.

  • Packing devices

A variety of packing equipment is available to accommodate different packaging styles and requirements for various types of domestic glass products.
